I had 2 Chiropractic "Life" Centers my first two years in practice in middle Georgia. We had a lay lecture every day at noon (which got old fast). I saw around 190 patient visits per week. Although the volume was pretty good the average cost per visit came to around $15 because we had family discounts, pro bono cases, etc...
I decided to move back to my hometown in Massachusetts and start over. This time I decided to not do lay lectures and for the most part I didn't educate my patients on the benefits of chiropractic care. I had no chiropractic posters or anything like that. I had a classic back pain relief clinic. I did that for a year and got really sick of hoping and praying for my next PI case. I decided to change my practice to a "straight" chiropractic office once and for all. I did away with the time consuming (and unnecessary) e-stim, hot packs and massagers. A few patients complained, but not many. I knew I didn't want to do lectures ever again so I contacted Chiropower and purchased the 1st and 2nd visit videos.
After a new patient completes their paper work they are escorted into the x-ray room to watch the first video. When I start the consultation I thank them for watching the video and ask them if it made sense. Every person has said, "Yes, the video was done in a way that I could easily understand what they were talking about" or something similar to that. The video sets the stage on the very first day for the paradigm shift to wellness care. It has been an effortless way for me to do my "lay lectures" without wasting a Monday evening at the office.
My office is only 700 sf. and I was sure I couldn't make it work, but we set up an attractive utility stand with a 20" flat TV in the x-ray room and it has worked out great! I also added key chiropractic posters, wellness brochures and all the other stuff. I've been at it a short time, but I've already seen a difference in the way new patients pick up the easy-to-understand concepts in the videos. Thanks Chiropower!
